An Avocado deserves “superfood” status as research shows eating this creamy fruit can influence a host of different measurements: LDL (bad) cholesterol, HDL (good  cholesterol, triglycerides, total cholesterol, and phospholipids.

Research also shows that people who eat more avocados weigh less and have smaller waists than those who don’t, even when they don’t consume fewer calories overall. And they taste good too!



Super Ways to Eat This Superfood

We all know about adding avocados to salads and sandwiches.  What are some unexpected ways to enjoy this superfood?

  1. Bake an egg in an avocado. Place egg in half an avocado in skin.  Bake at 450 degrees for 15 minutes.
  2. Use avocado instead of mayo in chicken salad.
  3. Replace butter with avocado in baking. Substitute ½ Tbsp. of avocado for 1 Tbsp. of butter.
